April may be over but neither the hype, nor the disappointment from those to receive Boxycharm has died down. The theme for April’s box was BOHO GLOW. It felt like the products in the box were more on theme, compared to March’s Creepy Cute, so that was a nice change.
Every month you are sent FIVE FULL SIZED products for about $21 (this varies a few dollars depending on your subscription type).
Products that everyone received:
OFRA Rodeo Drive Highlighter
One of the most anticipated items for April was the OFRA Rodeo Drive Highlighter. This beautiful baby has a value of $35.00. It seems like most people’s highlighter came damaged, but mine was only minor so I cannot complain too much. I’ve used this a couple times already as a highlight and it is just stunning! Because I’m a little older, I normally don’t think highlighters work for me in the traditional sense, so I often use them as eye shadow, however, I can see that this product will be universal for me!
For those who were already receiving the subscription, it was said we would be receiving one of two PUR products: The blending sponges, or brushes. I happened to receive the Blend Squad 3-PC Contour Blending Sponges, valued at $36.00.
The bright colours on these are adorable and perfect for the spring and summer months ahead! They are quite firm, but you can break them in and *should* use them wet. I love that they are half round and half angled – makes for a great application, depending on the product you are using. I still prefer my Quo Blending Sponge to apply my foundation, but the PUR sponges are A+ for contouring.
Measurable Difference Concealer Palette
This concealer palette showed a value of $19.99, however, people were finding it in their local stores for as low as 5.00. Mine came a little damaged, but was completely useable, so again, I can’t complain too much. This baby has 16 shades that can be used on most any skin tone! Some are more creamy than others, but I found if I mix a little bit of facial oil with the cream, they work well enough to blend. The colours are a bit too dark for concealing I think (on my light skin tone), nor did they cover well, so I have been using this more as a cream contour and colour correcting kit.
*Boxycharm often has variations for a couple items in their boxes*
Hairgurt Smoothing Yogurt Shampoo
I was not too thrilled when I saw this in my box (those who didn’t get this, got a serum). Boxy had previously had the hair mask from this same line in a box months back, which I don’t like to use…I’m forcing myself to finish it this month. I will not be opening this shampoo and testing this out to review it properly because I would rather give it away or trade it to someone that will enjoy it more. For those that are curious – it is supposed to be meant for frizzy, dry and damaged hair. This is valued at $10.00.
Allegory Lip Gloss in Plato’s Cave
This lip gloss has a value of $15 and I must say, I am glad I received this more than the Cargo gloss the others did – terrible reviews. The packaging on this is so cute and the applicator works traditionally well. The colour is a light brown and is medium coverage – semi-sheer, but it is buildable to be dark and opaque. It isn’t sticky and applies evenly. Apparently, it is vanilla scented, but I’m not sure if I pick up that completely or not – it IS scented, however, so luckily I’m not sensitive to it.
I made an unboxing video for April’s box, where you can see the items in action as well as see my first reactions before trying everything out (sometimes that’s a fun thing to see – so please check it out and show me some love, if you’re curious).
I have already seen 3 or 4 sneak peaks for May’s box, and I ‘m on the fence about my excitement, but I will make sure to share my goodies with you when they arrive.
Do you get any subscription boxes? I’d love to hear your experiences with Boxycharm or others! Suggest me some too!
